hey everyone

Well today has been an interesting week. First, I had to do help with the financial planning of the hacienda, so Jerry can present to Twickenham.( ok that was boring) On Wednesday, I helped lay the cement with the construction crew on the third casa. I have no experience with construction, but I have never worked hard that fast before. On Friday, I went down to Tabacundo to one of the many fiestas for San Pedro.(San Pedro is celebrated in Tabacundo and Cayambe for all of June and to mid-July). That day was a big parade. When I mean parade, I just mean groups of people walking and down and singing with instruments, there were no floats involved. But hey, I still had a good time. I hope to go to spanish school in Otavalo on the second week in July. Then for that weekend and the start of the third week of July, I hope to be in Banos. More on that later. Anyways I need to go to bed. I just finish watching the new Manchurian Candidate. That's a good movie anyways. Buenos Noches y Salud.

update

Today was a work day. I cleaned up the front entrance of the hacienda with Christian, Jhon, y Jorge, and then I helped Justin with school stuff. Hey I think I have a change of plans about backpacking. I might be able to go to a spanish school in Otavalo for 5 days. I would stay with a host family and would be completely immersed in it. I plan to take 2 or 3 hours a day of actual classes. (IS that good enough Nat?) It's only $5 a hour plus $10 day for housing(including meals). I think that is all I can afford. I still plan to go backpacking a little bit. I just plan to go to Banos instead of Cuenca(11 hour bus ride) and Banos. I do not know how long I will be able to travel, but if I have enough days I will probably spend the night in Quito, who knows. Anyways the time has gone by. I only have a month and a week. Oh well I do not need to focus on that at all. Anyways that is all from down here. Hope everything is going good in the States.
Hasta Luego!!!!!!

update

Hey guys well I just finished babysitting Jhon, Jorge, and Cristian. We had pizza and watched a movie. Yesterday, however, was very eventful. I took the boys to their first soccer game in Cayambe. We got there late for work purposes. Jerry dropped us off to the wrong estadio We learned 15 minutes after we arrived at that estadio it was the wrong one, and a lady told us about a taxi place 3 blocks away. We took a taxi and eventually got to the right stadium. We got there right before the end of half time and we saw the second half. Once we got there, we were greeted by courtney's(from twickenham group) friend. (It's a long story, I will tell later.) Anyways, the game started back and it was very interesting. The size was like a minor league baseball game here, but a whole lot more passionate with chants, drums, and even shooting firecrackers and romancandles in the stands. Espoli won(the home team) and the entire losing team(including coaches) charged towards the refs and a fight almost broke out. The police came out to prevent the fight. It was a very interesting day and a very fun day. This summer has already gone by so fast. I do not want to leave this place. Oh yeah, I hope to do a little backpacking for about a week sometime. I want to go to Cuenca and Banos. Hopefully that will happen. Anyways take care and I love you guys. Bye!!!!!!

All this week I have been helping with the school. Exams have started and the last day of school for them will be on Friday. I just got through babysitting Jon, Jorge, and Cristian for two days straight. Jerry had to take Pat(su esposa) to the airport, however they had some visa issues and had to stay in Quito overnight. That has been basically my week. Jerry and Justin said they had several things for me to do over the summer, so I am looking forward to that. I know this is short, but that is basically it. Mom and Dad I will try to call tonight. If not, I will call definately in town tomorrow. I love you guys and take care.

Update

Hey guys sorry for the wait. I did not have enough time to update my blog until now. I really do not know how many times I will be able to post a week, but just keep looking for them. Wow this past week has been crazy. I stayed with the Twickenham group at the camp, and it has been really amazing. The group on sunday passed out paper about a medical mission on Monday and Tuesday at the hacienda and camp. It was amazing how many people came to this event. We even had a family come to visit the church, because of the mission. On the free days, we went to Otavalo on Wednesday, and then we went to Mt. Cayambe on Thursday. We stopped at the refuge which was about 16,500 ft above sea level. It was amazing to see such harsh conditions with the snow and cold at about 20 miles away from the equator. I also got to see tundra, again who would have thought to see tundra so close to the mitad de la mundo. After the group left on Friday to Quito, I had to baby sit Jon, Jorge, and Christian that night and all day Saturday. We just played games with all the stuff I got. (All the kids were really excited when they saw the sporting equipment.) I really do not know what this week has ahead of me. Jerry told me that this week is the end of school. So I will not be doing PE everyday. I hope everything is going well with you guys in the states take care and God Bless.
P.S.- I have tons of photos for you guys on this blog.
P.P.S.-Mom, can you check with the travel agent on the flight info back. I know the date when I return, but I do not know the times at all, thanks.

leaving(finally)

hey less than 24 hours then I finally leave. (woot woot) I am all packed and ready to go.(almost) Can't wait to get down there. I would like to take this time for Josh King. 1st-I tried to send you an email but it was a no go. 2nd- I have decided to up the ante and post twice a week at least. It is going to be tough but I think I can. Here are some things I want to do. I want to get a to do list. I have to wait and figure out a whole lot more than cow tipping and bringing the concept of "rolling houses" to Ecuador. Also I am going to do a photo blog so you can see all of the photos. Oh yeah and I also want to bring a "word of the day". So these are a few things that I am going to do with this blog. Take care and I hope to write in the next couple of days.
